Alice Marie Herring, born on August 29, 1945, in Havana, Florida, peacefully passed away on December 27, 2025, in Steubenville, Ohio, at the age of 80.

A proud graduate and valedictorian of Havana Northside High School in 1964, Alice was known for her intelligence and dedication to excellence. Her passion for nurturing others extended throughout her 25-year career with the Steubenville City School District, where she positively impacted the lives of many students and colleagues.

Alice was a devoted member of the Emanuel Church of God in Christ, embodying unwavering faith and compassion. Her favorite scripture, Psalm 91, was a source of comfort and strength throughout her life. She dedicated her time to prayer, ministry work, and supporting those in her community, leaving a lasting impression through her spiritual guidance and nurturing spirit.

Alice was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 59 years, Henry Herring; her parents, Ethel and Prince Stewart; as well as her children, Bryan and Shameda Herring; and her siblings, Woodrow, Samuel, Alvin, Junior, Isaac, David, Eunice, and Ann.

She is survived by her loving sons, Steve (Kellen) Herring, Niles Herring, and Curtis Herring, along with her sister-in-laws, Gloria and Dolores, and her sister JoAnn. Alice's cherished grandchildren, Callie, Isaiah, Genesis, and Briella, along with four great-grandchildren, were the light of her life, and her deep affection for each of them will be fondly remembered.

Among many memorable moments, Alice had the honor of riding in President Obama’s presidential motorcade, a testament to her vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Above all, Alice’s profound love for her family marked her legacy. She cherished every moment spent with her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who knew her.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the Gregory-Martin Funeral Chapel, located at 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio.
