Andrew Vega, beloved son, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at the age of 48. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, to Frankie Vega and Milagros Deloach, Andrew was a dedicated and talented individual who embraced life with warmth and enthusiasm.

A graduate of Job Corps, Andrew built a career as a skilled carpenter, specializing in construction and roofing. Known as a “Jack of all trades,” he was admired for his versatility and work ethic. In his youth, he practiced boxing and Jiu Jitsu, reflecting both his discipline and spirit. Andrew’s smile and laughter could brighten any room, making him the life of every family gathering. His deep love for the Lord and His holy word was a guiding force throughout his life.

Andrew had a passion for cooking, delighting in preparing Puerto Rican cuisine and barbecue for his loved ones. He also cherished fishing, spending time at the lake, dancing, drawing, and most importantly, sharing moments with his children and family, who will forever hold him in their hearts.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Milagros Deloach of Lubbock, Texas; his children Antonio Vega of Struthers, Ohio, and Andrea Vega of Youngstown, Ohio, along with their mother Paula Vega of Girard, Ohio; and his companion Jackie Patterson of Youngstown, Ohio, with whom he shared several children: ArRihanna Vega, Andrew Vega Jr., Tirzah Vega, Kal-EL Vega, and ALegend Vega. He is also survived by his daughter Makala Branch of Youngstown, Ohio.

Andrew’s sisters Rachel Green (Thomas Green) of Youngstown, Ohio; Julia Brown (Keith Brown) and Vallie Deloach of Lubbock, Texas; Elisa Matlock of Youngstown, Ohio; and his brother Lewis Deloach of Youngstown, Ohio, along with seven treasured grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many loved ones, all carry forward his memory.

He was preceded in death by his son Damien Vega; his father Frankie Vega; stepfather Ronald Deloach; brother Tony Vega; grandparents Julio and Margarita Santiago; three uncles—David, Julius, and Leonard Santiago; and cousins Eric Knox and Johnny Correa.

The family has chosen to observe private remembrance and there will be no public services.

Andrew Vega’s vibrant spirit and loving heart will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. May his soul rest in peace.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free.

I’m following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard Him call:

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way;

If my parting has left a void

Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too shall miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow:

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life’s been full, I savored much;

Good Friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.

Perhaps my life seemed all to brief:

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and share with me;

God wanted me now; He set me free.
