Obituary

Anne Marlene Dumas, 80, of Weirton, West Virginia, was born on December 17, 1944, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the union of James D. and Jessie L. (Strong) Brown. She passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at Valley Hospice Care Center North.

Affectionately known as Marlene, she was raised in Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Weirton and resumed attending after returning to the area following several years in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1965, she was crowned Ms. CRC. A proud graduate of Weir High School's Class of 1962, Marlene was also a dedicated supporter of the NAACP. She built a career as a records keeper for the Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Cleveland, Ohio, from which she eventually retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Judy Salter, Jean Coleman, and Jimmy Brown; and her beloved husband, David Dumas Sr.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, David Dumas Jr.; two siblings, Vicki Taylor and Gary Brown; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Gregory-Martin Funeral Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Rudy McAllister will deliver the eulogy. A repast will follow the service.
