Obituary

Austin Matthew Jeter, 40, of Wintersville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 12, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 24, 1985, in Steubenville, Ohio, the beloved son of Resi Jeter and Leonard Carney.

Austin was known for his bubbly spirit, quick wit, and big heart. His humor and warmth made everyone feel at ease, and his presence could light up any room. He worked as a dedicated laborer and took pride in giving his best to every task he took on.

Austin was raised at Emmanuel Church of God in Christ and in his latter years became a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church under Bishop Jermaine Moore. He was also active in their media ministry until his health began to decline.

He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed wrestling and gaming. The highlight of Austin's life was when he attended a WrestleMania event in 2011 by way of his Auntie Darlene and Uncle Tim. He never forgot about all the fun he had that weekend. His laughter, love for life, and easygoing nature will always be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Coyet and Sharlene Jeter and paternal grandparents Leonard Sr. and Dolores Carney.

Austin leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents Resi Jeter and Leonard (Kathy) Carney, his siblings Steven Fletcher, Niesha Sharper, and Jeremy Carney, his uncles Tim (Darlene) Jeter, Robert (Idong) Smith, and Raymond (Karen) Walker, as well as his special mom Batista Young who held a dear place in his heart. He is also survived by many extended family members, friends, and his beloved pets, cats Mittens and Alonzo, and his loyal dog Gia who were always by his side.
