Betty Jean (Jeannie) Brown, age 82, of Wheeling, West Virginia, passed away on October 27, 2014. Betty was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of 5. She was a graduate of Wash High. She was a licensed cosmetologist and licensed teacher in the States of Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia and furthered her education by attending PBA, Dudley, and Aenon Bible College. She was a member of Bethlehem Apostolic Temple for over 50 years where she served in many areas of ministry as a pianist, mother of the church, Deacon's wife, Sunday school teacher, head of the usher's board, officer, food pantry, and participated in all auxiliaries of the church leading by example. She was also an officer of the Ohio Valley District. She was a member of the International State Usher Board of the Ohio District Council of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW). She served in the Pennsylvania Council. She was an active supporter of the ODC campgrounds. She has received many honors and awards for her accomplishments and contributions to her community.
Betty was the owner of Second Reflections beauty salon and Brown & Williams Funeral Home. She worked at Holy Family Child Care and was also the Director of Kings Daughters Nursery. She also provided daycare services from her home. She was a volunteer at Ohio Valley Medical Center. In her travels with her husband she worked for numerous funeral homes and beauty salons in Ohio and West Virginia.
She was the widow of Royal R. Brown. She is predeceased by her sisters Dorothy, Thelma, Mary, Louise, JoAnn, Nancy and her brother, Harold. She is survived by her son Landon R. Brown, his wife Robin, and her daughter Elva J. Brown. She has 2 grandchildren: Shawn D. Burns and Shelva D. Burns. She provided support and guidance to Carol Christian, Donna Estep, Thealeta Jackson, and James Sayers. She has 3 sisters, Barbara, Joyce (her husband Charles), Sheilan and 1 brother, Earl, and her angel on earth life-long friend, Mother Rose Hibbett. She has 2 brothers-in-law, Richard and Marvin and many nieces and nephews.
Services are being rendered by Martin Funeral Home, Visitation services will be held at Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church located at 117 First Street, Bridgeport, OH on Friday, October 31, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tribute service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Shiloh Temple Apostolic Church on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. Interment services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 1526 National Road, Wheeling, WV.
