Charlene Mayo Reid, 73, was born on May 20, 1945 in Steubenville, OH to the late Thomas James Williams Sr. and Annie Ruth West. She was called home to be with the Lord on Dec 20, 2018.
Charlene attended Steubenville City Schools and was a 1963 graduate of Steubenville (Big Red) High School. She loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Charlene served faithfully as a member of the Mass Choir, the Women's Ministry, and the Culinary Ministry. She retired after working twenty-six years with the Jefferson County Engineers Department. She was an active member of the NAACP and enjoyed reading, fishing, and traveling. During her younger years, Charlene was quite the athlete and played Shortstop for the legendary Biggio Girls Softball Team.
Most of all, Charlene was a phenomenal Mother. Her love and devotion for her children and grandchildren was limitless and her precious memory will live in their hearts forever.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Gable Reid and her sister, Dollie Lee "Toni" Wilson.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her four children: Sean Thomas Williams of Warner Robins, GA, Royal Mayo III of Steubenville, OH, Corina Mayo (Robert) Barrow of Evans, GA and Brandon Maurice Mayo of Las Vegas, NV: brothers Thomas James (Sara) Williams Jr. of Lilly, GA, Jerome Wicker of Lorain, OH, Jock West of Steubenville: sisters, Ruby Louise (Gary) Stubbs and Ruth Anna West both of Steubenville; a brother-in law, Steven G. Wilson of Steubenville; a special cousin, Rose Gory of Wintersville, OH; seventeen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 221 N. 7th Street in Steubenville. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, LLC.
