Charlotte Ann Saunders, born on January 6, 1955, in Weirton, West Virginia, to Burford and Ida Pearl Shackleford, peacefully departed from this world on Sunday, December 3, 2023. She spent her formative years at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Weirton and graduated from Weir High School. On January 17, 1976, she exchanged vows with the love of her life, Jeffery Saunders.
A dedicated homemaker, Charlotte found immense joy in the company of her family. Her green thumb and culinary skills were well-known, with her plants serving as a testament to her gardening passion. Affectionately called "Cha-Cha" by family and friends, Charlotte's warm and loving nature left a lasting impact on everyone she met.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: baby girl Charlene Shackleford, Roger Shackleford, Bruce Shackleford, Laverne Thorn, and Joyce Williams. Her memory will forever be cherished for the radiant personality she shared with the world.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Jeffery, and her children, Keana M. (Kareem) Ellis, Chatori L. Saunders, and Jeffrey Saunders. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren Tariq Ellis, Kareem Ellis Jr., Amira Ellis, Brandon (Crystal) Saunders, and Jaylen Turner. Welcoming a new generation, she leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Kamiyah Saunders. She is fondly remembered by three siblings Brenda Shackleford, Rebecca Riley, and Mark shackelford and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, starting at 11:00 am at the Gregory-Martin Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Funeral services will commence at 12:00 pm.
