Clarence Lemoyne Bennett "Clem" age 63 of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on June 12, 2016. He was born July 10, 1952. The son of the late Pearl and Sarah Smith Bennett.
Clarence was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He graduated from Steubenville "Big Red" High School, class of 1971. In high school Clem was an All-Star basketball player who started varsity as a freshman. He went on to Bacone College in Oklahoma, on a basketball scholarship; where he played for three years before he transferred to Cleveland State University.
He was employed with Weirton Steel Corporation from 1976 until 2004. He was recognized in 1991 for Outstanding Team Leadership in his Department. He would travel on assignments for the organization at times.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald and Charles; sister, Francine Bennett; and a brother in law, Rudolph Hampton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: daughters, Awsha Johnson and Atthylia Bennett; sons, Marquel Jeter, Donnell Jeter, and Clarence Bennett II, and two others. His siblings, Claudette Bland of Columbus, Ohio; Carol Spencer, Jeanette Christian and Phillip Bennett of Cleveland, Ohio and Floretta Hampton of Steubenville, Ohio, four local nephews whom he adored, Ivey Hampton, Tazaunate Ware, Carl and Charles Daniels; neices Dionne and Royston Snowden and a host of grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
