Craig O'Neil Smith (77) was born on October 23, 1941, in Wheeling, West Virginia to the late Lester and Nettie (Sayles) Smith of Smithfield, Ohio. Craig departed this life on April 7th, 2019 at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, Ohio after a lengthy illness.

Craig graduated from Steubenville "Big Red" High School in 1959, and alongside his wife, he later received an Associate Degree from Jefferson Community College in 1987. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960 -1964. He returned to Steubenville after receiving an honorable discharge and worked with Krum Construction Company for several years as well as Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel for nearly 25 years. He possessed an unyielding passion for fairness and justice and as a result, served in multiple capacities for The United Steel Workers Union #1190 during most of his tenure with Wheeling-Pitt. After his retirement from the mill, he worked at Schrickel Chiropractic Office as the Office/Business Manager and, for the last 10 years as an instructor with Ameridrive Driving School. He never met a stranger and imparted words of wisdom to everyone willing to receive them. Craig loved life, his family and golf.

In addition to his parents, Craig was preceded in death by his daughter, Angelina Jenkins; sister, Bernadine Hayden, and brother, Huey Smith.

Surviving are his wife, Dolores Smith of Wintersville; daughters, Carmen (Jimmy) Stroud of Suwanee, Georgia and Crystal Boggs of Steubenville; Grandchildren, Ashlee Jenkins, Carlee Jenkins and Chelsee Stroud, all of Suwanee, Georgia; Brandon Boggs, Derius Boggs, Sr. and Amber Boggs, all of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Shirley Swearengen of Steubenville and Phyllis Mastin of Lorain, Ohio; brother, Monte Smith, Sr. of Wintersville and a host of family members and friends.

Interment will  be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA. The date will be forthcoming.
