David "Jap" Chester

June 6, 1945 - May 1, 2021

David Adam Chester, 75, of Steubenville, Ohio, was born June 6, 1945, in Weirton, West Virginia, to the late Marzell (McKenzie) and Adam E. Chester. He went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2021.

He was a faithful member of Quinn Memorial AME Church where he taught Sunday School and served on the Men's Usher Board. He graduated from Weir High School in Weirton, West Virginia. He received an Associates's Degree from Jefferson County Technical Institution known locally as "Jeff Tech." He served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era. He retired from Weirton Steel Corporation Tin Mill Lab. He served his community in many ways including on the Ohio Valley Fair Housing Board.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Christopher; one infant sister, Anna Marie and one sister, Karen Carter of Dayton, OH; two Brothers, Aaron Chester of Steubenville, OH and Anthony Chester of Cleveland, OH.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Ilana (Patterson) Chester; son, Bryan Chester (Briana Fowkes) of Massillon, OH; daughter, Kisha Chester of Powell, OH; sister, Betty Joseph of Dayton, OH; sister, Katherine Wesley of Cleveland, OH; granddaughters, Zaire Jasmine Chester, Aniya Calloway, Andilena Fowkes; grandsons, David Calloway III, Devon Calloway; a dear aunt, Romia Chester of Weirton, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 9:00-11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service, 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7, 2021, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL AND LIFE EVENT CENTER, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Buena Dudley officiating and Rev. Donus Crawford Jr. will deliver the eulogy. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery.
