Demarques "Poonie" Antonio Meeks was born November 24, 1979, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Michael Johnson and Patricia Diane Meeks. He passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Trinity West Medical Center in Steubenville, Ohio, at the age of 42.

Demarques was a Christian by faith. He attended West Fulton High School in Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed cars, animals, traveling, fishing, cooking, sports, video games, and going to the gun range. He loved his children and family and truly adored his mother; she was his heart.

He was preceded in death by his father Michael Johnson; his grandfather Leroy Brown; his great-grandmother Ruby Meeks

He is survived by his mother Patricia Diane Meeks; children Ataliona Robinson, AuJanae Robinson, De'Marco Meeks, Demarques Meeks Jr., and Dominic Meeks; his significant other of several years Niki Delany; stepdaughter Hailey Brown; Ms. Ruby "Virgie" Meeks (Lionel); as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Benjamin Calvert II. will deliver words of comfort. Entombment will follow at Union Cemetery, 1720 Sunset Blvd. in Steubenville, Ohio.
