Dennis Leroy Griffin, affectionately known as “Moses,” was born on March 28, 1935, to Jesse and Mary Griffin. He passed away peacefully during an afternoon nap on August 29, 2026.

Dennis graduated from the renowned Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, in 1953. He later attended the University of Birmingham from 1953 to 1955, where he studied computer science.

In the 1970s, Dennis moved to Youngstown, Ohio, where he began working for Olan Mills. He later worked as a television repairman for several years. In the late 1970s, Dennis began a career in computer repair while also becoming a highly skilled carpenter, mason, and plumber.

Throughout the years, Dennis built homes and performed repairs and handyman services for families throughout the community and across the city. He was known for providing quality work at reasonable prices. If you entered a convenience store in the area and saw bulletproof glass, there was a good chance Dennis and his sons helped build or install it.

Dennis eventually established his first business, A-Plummer Man LLC, through which he performed subcontracting work for Dominion Gas Company. He also worked for LegalShield, selling prepaid legal service plans. After many years of dedicated work and service, Dennis retired in 2015.

Dennis was also a proud member of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club, an international brotherhood founded upon discipline, structure, loyalty, and mutual respect. The club is recognized by its signature gold-and-black colors and prominent Condor insignia.

In the 1990s, Ronald “Juice” Oliver officially founded the Youngstown, Ohio, chapter of the Comanchero Motorcycle Club. Juice appointed Dennis “Moses” Griffin as the founding president of the Ohio chapter that same year. Together, Moses and Juice established the club’s presence in the region, combining its international traditions with the strength and dedication of Ohio’s local motorcycle culture.

Dennis had a special gift for technology and creating things with his hands. He loved his pets, motorcycles, and especially his computer. He was known for his generosity, warm smile, and wonderful sense of humor. Dennis was always ready with a joke to lighten the mood and bring joy to those around him.

Dennis was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dennis and Elizabeth Griffin; his parents, Jesse and Mary Griffin; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert Walker Sr. and Betty Walker; his brothers-in-law, Marvin “Fast” Walker and Vincent McClendon; his sister-in-law, Olivia Walker; and his best friend and brother, Ronald “Juice” Oliver.

Dennis leaves to cherish his memory his four sons, Dominick Cherry, Gary Walker Sr., Evan Walker, and Timothy Walker Sr.; eight grandchildren, Precious Brown, Gary Walker Jr., Eiran Walker, Jabrail Rivers, Amya Hightower, Ayden Watkins, Timothy Walker Jr., and Gianna Walker; one great-granddaughter, Khalia Brown; four stepchildren, Gerald Walker, Lydia Walker, Marvin Walker, and Charlene Walker; and his godson, Larry Williams.

He is also survived by a host of in-laws, including Robert (Sherry) Walker, Marcia Walker, Brenda (Melvin) Rushton, Evelyn McClendon, Loretta Walker, Carl (Barbara) Walker, Carol (David) Freeman, and Darlene McFadden, along with many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.

The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home; his nurse, Elaina Dean, for the compassionate care she provided; and all the family members who took the time to visit Dennis. The family also thanks Gregory-Martin Funeral Home for its care and the beautiful service.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. until noon, followed by the funeral service at noon at the funeral chapel located at 292 Madison Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44504.

A repast will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Donald Lockett VFW Post 6488 and Ladies Auxiliary, 2065 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown, Ohio.
