Derek Lamar Bennett, 28, of Sparrow Road, Suffolk, Virginia transitioned Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born in Steubenville, Ohio to Adrienne Priscilla Bennett and Duane Earl Walker. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Donte' William.

He was a graduate of King's Fork High School and he was an Electrician Tech.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ariel Shanice Bennett of Suffolk, VA; father, Duane Earl Walker (Nicole) of Carrolton,VA; mother, Adrienne Priscilla Bennett (Otho) of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Ariana Simone Bennett of Columbus, OH and a special sister, Teasha Bennett of Columbus, OH; brother, Damien Cordell Bennett of Columbus, OH; maternal grandparents, Jocelyn Holmes of Morgantown, WV, William Holmes (Minnie) of Kokomo, IN; paternal grandparents, Mearl Boone (Robert) of Suffolk, VA and Johnny Thomas (Yvonne) of Portsmouth, VA; in-laws, Ronald and Tiffany Ingram of Suffolk, VA; stepsisters, Tiffany McManus Sparks, Ciara McManus, Joy Montague; stepbrothers, Christopher McManus, Davon Montague, and Cortez Askew; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Services were held on Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 5921 Harbour View Blvd, Suffolk, VA 23435. Derek was laid to rest in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 8300 Crittenden Road, Suffolk, VA.
