Derwin W. Harton of Steubenville passed away on January 11, 2019, in Pittsburgh, PA; at the V.A. Hospital. He was born June 6, 1956, in Steubenville, Ohio to the union of Walter and Jane Harton.
Derwin was a Christian by faith. He was a 1974 Steubenville High School graduate. After high school, Derwin enlisted into the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country until 1977 receiving his honorable discharge. He attended the University of Cincinnati and the University of Kentucky and received his Bachelor's of Science degree.
Derwin adored his family and was known for his big heart. He was a very giving and loyal person.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Jane Harton; and one brother, Lyndon K. Harton.
Derwin leaves behind to cherish his memory, his life-long companion, Ms. Benita Ellis; his son, Reynard Harton; two brothers, Rod (Francine) Harton, and Stephen (Tina) Harton; two sisters, Juliette Harton, and Vonetta Harton Cason; two aunts, Dorothy Houston of Birmingham, AL; and Carol Ann Payne of Pittsburgh, PA; five nieces, ten nephews, a host of other loving relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17, 2019, 11 a.m. until the time of service, noon, at the Gregory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Arranged by Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
