Donna J. Terry peacefully passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Weirton Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 23, 1944, in Toronto (Jetto), Ohio, Donna was the cherished daughter of the late Estelle Johnson and Hylan Birden. Preceding her in death were eight siblings: Lawrence Stone, Hylan (Joe) Atkins, Pamela Tillman, Linda Birden, Randy Birden, Keith Birden, Roslynn (Deena) Holiday, Constance White, leaving behind a legacy of familial love and memories, along with her beloved great-grandchild, Amari Halmon.
Donna's journey through life was marked by resilience, determination, and a profound love for her community and family. She pursued her education with zeal, attending Steubenville Public Schools and later enriching her knowledge at Jeff Tech Community College.
Throughout her career, Donna exemplified the spirit of hard work and dedication. She spent many years contributing her talents to Ohio Edison Sammis Plant and later retired from Timet Plant in Toronto, Ohio. Her commitment to providing for her family was unwavering, as she worked tirelessly, often juggling multiple jobs during her youth.
An avid supporter of her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, Donna's passion for football was evident to all who knew her. Yet, her loyalty was not without discernment, as she wasn't afraid to vocalize her frustrations when players fell short of expectations.
Donna's greatest joy was found in the warmth of her family's embrace. She shared a profound bond with her lifelong companion and love of her life, Tyrone Williams, of Wintersville, Ohio. Together, they navigated life's highs and lows, creating countless cherished memories along the way.
A devout member of Promise of Victory Church in Weirton, West Virginia, Donna found solace and strength in her faith, guiding her through life's challenges with grace and perseverance.
She leaves behind a rich tapestry of love in the form of her children: Kevin (Tamika) Terry of Calcutta, Ohio, Hubert "Cook" (Valeta) Terry III of Clinton, MD, Chris (Marquia) Terry-Williams Sr. of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Cynthia Johnson of Baltimore, MD, and Dawn (Brian) Terry-Styles of Steubenville, Ohio. Additionally, Donna is survived by her sisters, Melody "Lucky" Walton of Columbus, Ohio, and Carolyn Birden of Chicago, IL, along with her cousin/brother, Robert Warren of Columbia, SC, whom she was raised with, and her Aunt Gloria Johnson of Steubenville, Ohio.
Her legacy extends through the lives of her nine cherished grandchildren: Awsha Johnson, CheVaughn Johnson, Krishonna Williams, Trey Martin-Terry, DaShon Wares-Terry, Janelle Terry, Marcus Terry, Mariah Terry, and Christopher Terry-Williams Jr., as well as her five beloved great-grandchildren: Zakiyah, A'Shawn, Zacarias, Sincere, and Natalyah. Countless nieces, nephews, and cousins also hold her memory dear in their hearts.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours for Donna on Monday, April 29, at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, 255 South 7th St., Steubenville, Ohio 43952, with viewing from 11 AM until the time of service at 12 PM. Pastor Albert Mitchem will officiate. Following the service, interment will take place at Union Cemetery in Steubenville, Ohio.
Donna's legacy of love, perseverance, and unwavering strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known her. May her memory be a beacon of comfort and solace during this time of mourning.
