Dora Jean Smith, 60, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away April 21, 2020, at Trinity West Hospital. She was born June 18, 1959, in Steubenville the daughter of Ben Smith and Dorothy Griffin.

She was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Steubenville. She worked as an educator for Head Start for over 15 years.

Dora was tough and even entered and placed 2nd in the Tough Man/Woman contest.

Dora showed relentless love for everyone. She could make you smile even when you were having a bad day. She was the caretaker of her family and this act of kindness spilled over to many of the neighborhood children. She showed community love, supporting and feeding others around her and always had an open-door policy.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Ben and Dorothy Smith. She is survived by her children, Charise, Di'Asha, TaWanda, and Geraldmyra Smith; ten grandchildren; one brother, Tony Smith; two special friends, Pat Butler and Terry Jennings; a host of other relatives and friends.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2020, from 12:00 PM until 4 PM at the GREGORY-MARTIN FUNERAL CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville. A private funeral ceremony will be held for the family. Interment will take place at Union Cemetery in Steubenville.

PLEASE NOTE: NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CHAPEL AT A TIME DURING VISITATION HOURS. WE ENCOURAGE ALL VISITORS OF THE GREGORY-MARTIN FUNERAL CHAPEL TO COME WEARING MASK AND GLOVES.
