Dorothy Elizabeth Jones was born on March 25, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late Elmer and Sallie (née Mayo) Lytle.
She was Baptist by faith and grew up and remained a member of Second Baptist Church. She was an avid studier of the Bible.
She was a graduate of Steubenville "Big Red" High School. She furthered her education at Jefferson Technical Community College and studied computer programming during the start of the new computer revolution.
Dorothy was a very talented cook and enjoyed baking. She turned her culinary skill into a career and worked many years for Elby's Big Boy as a Chef and Pastry Maker. She found enjoyment in her artistry.
She was committed to her family and deeply loved her three sons and grandchildren. She was a source of strength for her family and they often referred to her as a "Warrior" because she overcame many trials and tribulations.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, James Lee Jones and her siblings, Dwight, Victor, George, James and Elmer Lytle, Ilene Gates and Catherine Calhoun.
On Thursday, March 8th Dorothy quietly passed away with her son by her side. Her memory will forever be treasured by her sons, Michael Lytle, Jeffrey Jones and Jerome Jones; her daughter-in-law, Jenean Lytle; her grandchildren, Sarah Dryer, Kamonie and Kenyatta Lytle, Nicole and Danielle Hudson, Symone Brown, Jerome, Jr., Jerona, Justin, Jamia and Jaree Jones and Amora Richardson-Jones; 17 great-grandchildren, her siblings, Janet Carter, Valdora Adams, Maxine Lytle-Jones, Carolyn Edwards, Nathaniel Lytle, Richard Lytle and Donald Lytle; a special angel, Jeannetta Brown who she loved like a daughter; past daughters in law, Karen Wayne and Dreana Thomas, a dear family friend Daryl Harris who spent many days at her home; many special nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
She will forever be remembered in the hearts of those that love her.
