Early Ray Brown went home on March 20,2012. He was born on March 9, 1935 to the late Robert and Tommie Williams Brown in Weirton, WV. He was proceeded in death by his siblings, Royce.John Henry, and Robert Brown Jr, and sisters Ollie Midget and Betty Fuller.
He shared his life with his wife Marie Brown and his family.Daughters; VIcki (Edward, Sr.) Littlejohn of Steubenville, Oh. Alesia (Peter) Brogdon and Stephanie Valentine all of Weirton. His grandsons; Edward Littlejohn, Jr. and Jonathan Littlejohn of Steubenville, Peter Brogdon II and Early Ray Brown Brogdon and his sister Virginia Jennings of Weirton, Sister in laws;
Dorothy Young of Beaver Falls, Pa. Carlillie Seabrook of Rahway NJ, Dr. Petrovia Rich of Richmond, Va, and Dr.Pauline Anderson of Braydenton, Fl, brother in laws; Cleveland(Betty) Morgan and Paul(Gladys) Morgan of Wilson, NC. and a host of nephews,nieces and cousins.
He was a graduate of Dunbar High School and a graduate of the Thompson Business College of Steubenville, Ohio and attended West Virginia Northern Community College.
He was a member of the Steubenville musicians Local 223. He was the owner and director of Early Brown and the Kings of Swings for over 40 years. He was employed by Weirton Steel for 37 years where he was supervisor of Accounts Payable. He was Chairman of the Weirton American Red Cross for nuumerous years. He was EEOC for National Steel, co chairman of the Weirton Housing Authority and was on the Advisory boards of the Salvation Army, Weirton General and Weirton Medical Center. He was the first black councilman for eight years in Weirton, WV.
He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church for 66 years. He was a Scout Master for the Boy Scout. He was supertendent for over 30 years and a choir director, chairman of the Deacon Board for over 20 years a liceansed minister and Associate Minister of Morning Star Baptist.
Visitation will be held at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 3128 Weir Avenue in Weirton, WV. Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9. Funeral services will be held Friday a 1:00PM at the Church.
