Elizabeth Beryl Thomas Smith
Elizabeth Beryl Thomas Smith, 93, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at the Weirton Medical Hospital. She was born to Walter and Clarice Thomas in Pittsburgh, PA on June 24, 1919, moving to Weirton at an early age. Elizabeth grew up on Weirton's North End, attending public schools. Elizabeth, or 'Pete' as she was known to friends, was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching soap operas and sports-her favorite teams being the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William "Bill" Smith, grandson, Gregory Rice, and son-in-law, Clarence Rice. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Lois Rice, Weirton, and Carole Bernardino, Xenia, OH, grandsons Darrell (Angela) Rice, Beavercreek, OH and Terence Rice, Weirton, granddaughters, Michelle Ghee, Canton, MI, Carla Bernardino (Kenneth Mundy), and Cathy (Terry) Bailey, both of Cincinnati, OH, and great-grandchildren William Riddick, Nashville, TN, Ariana Rice, Fairmont, WV, Courtney and Terrian Rice, both of Weirton, and Simone Bailey, Cincinnati.

The family hour will be held at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at the corner of Weir Avenue & Kessel Street on Tuesday, October 30th at 11:00AM with services immediately following at noon. Arrangements are being handled by Gregory & Martin Funeral Service.
