Elizabeth P. Young of Weirton, W.V. passed away at home on Sunday, March 27, 2016. She was born June 27, 1921 in Weirton, W.V., to the late Bertha and Wade Price.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph D. Young; a devoted niece, Deborah Price-Lyons; sisters, Mary P. Hodge, Gladys Price, and Margaret Williams; brothers, Sam and Edward Price.
She graduated from West Virginia State College with a Bachelor of Home Economics and went on to earn her Master of Education from the University of Pittsburgh . She taught in Hancock County Schools and later retired as Principal of Cove Elementary School in Weirton .
She was a faithful member of the Morning Star Baptist Church where she served as financial secretary, trustee and missionary. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Nimble Thimble Club, Lifetime Member of NAACP, Mental Health Board, and Weirton Hall of Fame. She was recognized for Outstanding service in the Field of Education, received Appreciation awards from Hancock County Schools and Weirton Medical Center.
She is survived by: two nephews, Alfred Williams, Jr. and Richard (Sandra) Williams; six nieces, Rebecca, Debbie, Cindy, Jennie, Jennifer and Carol; a sister-in-law, Rosa Price; great nieces, nephews, a host of relatives and friends.
