Obituary

Elva Jean Brown was born on August 22, 1962. She was the daughter of Royal and Betty Brown, Wheeling Business owners.  Elva Jean,as she was called by friends and family, graduated from Mount De Chantal and went to Wheeling Community College.  She was a licensed Nursing Assistant. Elva cherished her role as a mother to her two children, Shelva Burns and Shawn Burns II.

Elva was baptized at the young age of five just like her mother.  Shortly after she developed a love for music and percussion instruments, specifically the drums, which lasted a lifetime.  Her love of Christ and music led her to be a well-known and respected percussionists in the church community. Elva was a faithful member of Greater Zion Temple. Where she played the drums, was a member of the praise team, and helped in the kitchen. She was a member of the Ohio Valley and Pennsylvania State councils of the Pentecostals Assemblies of the World.  Elva was also an active supporter of the Ohio District Campgrounds.

Elva was a fun-loving spirit who brought joy to the world with her contagious smile and laughter. Elva Jean will be remembered as a sister, mother, cousin, caretaker, musician, friend, and a kind person to all who knew her.

On July 23rd, 2020 Elva transitioned this life. She is survived by her son; Shawn Burns II, her daughter; Shelva Burns, her brother; Landon R (Robin) Brown, her aunts; Barbara Singleterry, Joyce D (Charles)Patmon, Sheilian Harris, her uncles; Earl Burch, Marvin Reeves and Richard Howard; a host of cousins, her fiancé; Jim Korff, her life long friend; Thealeta (Nikki) Jackson, and her second mother; Mother Rose Hibbett.
