Emma "Susie" Wiggins Alfred went home to be with the Lord on August 28, 2016. She was born on March 18, 1919 in Hartselle, Alabama. The daughter of the late John and Cora Almon Wiggins.

Susie was a lifetime member of Phillips Chapel CME Church where she served in almost every office of the church. Her favorite office was Layleader. She retired from Steubenville City Schools as a paraprofessional. During her years she cooked for the nuns at the Gill Hospital, St. Anthony's, Holy Rosary, as well as other places in the diocese of Steubenville. She was also past matron of the Queen of the South Chapter #22 OES of Steubenville. She was one of the founders of the Ladies of Serenity Federated Women's Club. She also served as a member of the NAACP. She was always active in her community and always encouraging to young people.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia "Jean" Littlejohn-Harris of Wintersville and one son, John Alfred, Jr., and a loving daughter-in-law, Vicky Alfred of Steubenville; a sister, Laura Albritton-Harley of Suitland, MD; her loving grandchildren, Edward (Vicki), Frank (Genevieve) of Steubenville; Heather Littlejohn of Columbus, OH; Dwight (Courtney) Alfred and Denise of Northfield, OH; Ten great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by three sons, Samuel Murray, Dwight and Kim Alfred, and three brothers, Joseph, Willie, Paul and Oscar Wiggins and three sisters, Eloise Taylor, Lillie Brown and Mae Henry Wheeler.
