On Saturday, February 12, 2022, Ernest Robinson (aka Bubba, Cool Breeze, Uncle Bub , Kato ) 74 of Steubenville , Ohio, surrounded by his loved ones passed away at Weirton Medical Center. Bubba , the son of the late Ernest C. and Virginia (Wilson) Robinson, was born February 24, 1947, in Steubenville , Ohio.
Bubba graduated from Steubenville High School in 1965. Slow talking, slow walking, Bubba was a stellar track star. He excelled in both the 100 - and 200-yard races setting school records in both 1964 and 1965. He was awarded a track scholarship and attended Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California. Upon returning in the Ohio Valley, Bubba, the entrepreneur, whose passion was barbecuing a skill he learned from his dad opened a Soul Food carry-out known as "Uncle Bubs. " He later was employed as a correctional officer at Belmont Correctional Facility until his retirement in 2011.
He was a life-long and devoted member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and head of the culinary committee. He and his daughter , advertised as Daddy/Daughter Duo, prepared many dinners and the Chili Fundraiser to secure monies for the church .
Ernest was a loving and caring son, grandson , brother , dad , nephew , uncle , cousin , grandfather , and friend . In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by his sister , Jacqueline Moore, his paternal grandparents , Scott and Rose Robinson, maternal grandparents , William and Aria Wilson, nephew , Rolland Owens Jr, special friends James and Robert Ferris .
The most important aspect of his life was his family . He would always tell them, "I love you and you can't do nothing about it." Bubba truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends , going on vacations , having cookouts where he was the chief chef, chauffeuring his dad and uncle on their annual pilgrimage to Georgia, being there for his grands , assuming the role of dad and grand-dad, and socializing with friends just having a good time . He leaves to mourn his loss ; children , Torchee Robinson and Tracy Lawrence of Columbus , Ohio , Tasha Robinson and Ariane Robinson of Steubenville , grandchildren , Mary Alyce Robinson and Whitney Robinson of Columbus , Ohio , NyJuan Robinson , Ataliona Robinson , Aujanae Robinson , and Azyah Robinson-McAdoo of Steubenville , great-grandchildren, Torreon Davis-Hall , Joshua Wilkerson , Kayley Wilkerson , Khloe Wilkerson and Elijah Robinson of Columbus , Ohio, and many loving relatives and friends .
Uncle Bub will be truly missed by his family , extended family , and friends whose lives he touched in a special way. We know as he was welcomed into his eternal home by his Heavenly Father and earthly family , he joyfully exclaimed, "Happy to Be Here"!
Visitation is scheduled for Saturday , February 19th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church 221 North 7th Street, Steubenville , OH, from 12 noon until the time of Homegoing services at 2:00 pm. Bishop Jermaine V. Moore Sr. will deliver the eulogy . The family is requesting that all visitors wear a mask . Services will also be virtual.
