IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Erwin
Phipps
July 29, 1953 – January 8, 2024
Mr. Erwin "Buster" Phipps, 70, of Steubenville, Ohio, peacefully passed away at his residence on Monday, January 8, 2024. He was born on July 29, 1953, in Steubenville, the son of the late John Phipps and Johnnie Mae Christian.
Erwin was baptist by faith and spent his formative years attending Second Baptist Church in Steubenville, Ohio. He dedicated several years of his life as a laborer for Weirton Steel Corp until his well-earned retirement.
Erwin found joy in simple pleasures, particularly fishing and grilling. A devoted Cleveland Browns fan, he had a passion for sports and enjoyed rooting for his team. Known for his quiet demeanor, Erwin preferred to stay to himself, but his impact on those close to him was profound.
Above all, Erwin was the best father a son could ask for, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gregory Phipps.
Erwin is survived by his son, Steven (Dawn) Phipps of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren, Caleb and Steven Phipps; one brother, Howard Christian of Pensacola, Florida; and one sister, Barbara Ann Phipps Harvey of Columbus, Ohio. He also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.
In accordance with Erwin's wishes, funeral services and interment will be held privately for the family only. Friends may convey condolences to the family through Erwin's online guestbook. Arrangements entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
