IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Eva Marie
Saunders Thorn
February 6, 1962 – February 21, 2023
Eva Mare Saunders Thorn gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, and soared to be with her loved ones on the other side. Eva was born on February 6, 1962, in Steubenville, Ohio to the late James and Lucille (Smith) Saunders. She graduated from Catholic Central High in 1980.
Eva was loving and caring, always willing to help her family and friends. She was a Nurse's Aide for over ten years at Carriage Inn and Labelle Nursing Home. She used these skills as she became the primary Caregiver to her late husband Marion Thorn who she married in May 2005. She was also preceded in death by her sister Patty Mitchell and eldest and only Grandson, Darious Robinson who held a special place in her heart. A licensed CDL driver, Eva drove the school bus for the School of Bright Promise. She always made sure each and every child felt special by giving them a little treat as they got on the bus. They lovingly referred to her as Ms. Eva and they left a lasting impression on her.
Eva was very special to all who knew and loved her. She had a nurturing spirit and a Heart of Gold. Eva enjoyed cooking a skill that she perfected over the years. She enjoyed having cookouts and would light up the neighborhood with the smell of ribs and chicken as well as selling dinners with her daughter, Ariane. Eva was a meticulous housekeeper. She loved to clean and decorate. These traits served her well. During the past 10 years, she serviced a loyal clientele with her cleaning and decorating skills.
Eva leaves to cherish her memory, her children who she rode hard for, Bruce and Ariane Robinson of Steubenville, Ohio. She was so proud of her loving granddaughters, partners in crime, Ava, Ataliona, Aujanae, and Azyah Robinson. They had many special sleepovers where they would listen to music, enjoy dancing, playing cards, and watch game shows. She also leaves her siblings, Dorinda Saunders, Jamie Saunders, Jeffery (Charlotte) Saunders, Tracey Saunders, and Lucy Jackson of Steubenville, Ohio; Byron (Joyce) Saunders, Seattle, WA, Gary (Olivia) Saunders, Germany, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
