Evangelist Ruth Evelyn Lucious Stinson, age 85, entered eternal rest on September 10, 2026.

Ruth was born on May 20, 1941, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Allen Lucious and Geneva Wallace. She was raised in Wheeling, West Virginia, and was the fourth of six children. Affectionately known as “Tiny” and “Aunt Tiny,” she was devoted to her family and proudly served as the family historian.

Ruth began her education at Blessed Martin Catholic School and later attended St. Joseph’s Academy in Wheeling. She committed her life to Christ at an early age and was licensed to preach in 1988 at New Zion Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, under the leadership of Rev. Samuel Williams.

Throughout her life, Evangelist Stinson shared the Gospel, taught God’s Word, encouraged women, counseled families, and prayed for those in need. She helped establish the Lydia Women’s Ministry at Brookhollow Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, and was a cofounder of Agape Baptist Church in Wheeling alongside her former husband, Rev. Willie F. Stinson. In later years, she continued her Christian fellowship as a member of Mt. Carmel Community Baptist Church in Steubenville, Ohio.

Ruth worked professionally in fashion sales management and also appeared in the Off-Broadway production The Yoke in Poughkeepsie, New York. She was known for her impeccable style, beautiful hats, wisdom, humor, and love of African American history. Her extensive collection of African American Heritage commemorative postage stamps was displayed throughout the country and used to educate others about the achievements and contributions of African Americans.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Rev. Willie F. Stinson; her beloved son, Robert “Kayo” Robertson Jr.; her parents, Allen Lucious and Geneva Wallace; her sisters, Lenore Ward, Bishop Juanita Bledsoe, Jacqueline Lucious, and Carol Lucious; and her brother, Allen E. Lucious.

Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Dr. Willette F. Stinson and Renita Stinson-Lavender; her son-in-love, Lorenzo Lavender; her stepson, Michael Styles (Diane); her grandsons, Robert G. Robertson III, Tayari Lavender, TreyLonnie Robertson, and Ja’Quan Lavender; her granddaughter, Fredricka Faith Stinson; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Mt. Carmel Community Baptist Church, 708 North Fifth Street, Steubenville, Ohio. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon. The family respectfully requests that those attending wear navy blue in honor of Evangelist Stinson. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
