May 9, 1941 – March 8, 2024
Frankie Lee Allen, 82, of Steubenville, Ohio, ascended to her heavenly home on March 8, 2024. Born on May 9, 1941, in Albany, Georgia, she was the cherished daughter of John Lee Sr. and Hytha Cornelius (Richardson) Edwards. Frankie found her lifelong partner in Freddie Lee Allen, whom she married in 1959. Together, they were blessed with three children: Bernadette, Fred, and Lynn.
A quintessential caregiver, Frankie expressed her love through her culinary skills, delighting in preparing meals that nourished both body and soul. Renowned for her prowess in the kitchen, she rarely consulted recipes, infusing every dish with her unique touch. A talented seamstress, Frankie would often transform store-bought garments and curtains to suit her vision, showcasing her creative flair. She inherited cherished traditions from her Southern roots, passing down her love of gardening, canning, cooking, and baking to her daughters. Additionally, her artistic talents extended to ceramics, and her creations remain treasured keepsakes for her children and grandchildren.
A disciplined planner, Frankie pursued her goals with unwavering determination, instilling the same work ethic in her children. Her sage advice and unwavering support guided her loved ones through life's challenges.
In addition to her roles as a devoted mother and caregiver, Frankie held various positions throughout her career, contributing her talents to institutions such as the Hub, Ohio Valley Hospital, the Jefferson County Children's Home, and Weirton Steel Mill. Her commitment to excellence was evident in every role she undertook.
In addition to her parents, Frankie was preceded in death by her grandson Carlin, granddaughter Frankie, sister Josephine Williams, brother John Lee Edwards Jr., and brother-in-law Connie.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Freddie; children Bernadette Prentice, Frederick Allen, and Yvonne Lynn Mays (Walter); grandchildren Dudley, Rene, Alesia (Shane), T'Keyah, Natalia, Bryson, Lorenzo, and Emanuel; great-grandchildren Izabella, Carlo, Enzo, Kalaysta, Avi'onna, Quartazha, Keyonna, Zkarre, Cior, Avontay Amarion, and Major; sisters Jewel (Kenny) and Christine; sister-in-law Martha and brother-in-law Ralph; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, brother, and sisters-in-laws and dear friends.
