Gene Arthur Smith Jr., 58, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away on October 24, 2025. He was born on August 20, 1967, in Bellaire, Ohio, the son of the late Gene A. Smith Sr. and Rena Adrian Clark.

Gene was Catholic by faith. Throughout his life, he held a variety of jobs, including work in communications and telemarketing. He enjoyed writing, drawing, and expressing his artistic side. Gene loved to shop and stay active through exercise.

Gene lived his life in his own unique way, always ready with a quick smile or a good laugh. His humor and playfulness brought light to those around him, and even when he pushed buttons, it was never without a good heart and good intentions.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his six children, Victoria Booher, Rena (Christopher) Bell, Moriah (John) Jasso, Veronica (Joseph) Bosse, Gene III "Bud" (Kaydee) Smith, and Madisyn Smith; eleven grandchildren; his siblings, Andrew Smith and Cherry Dawson; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

No public services will be observed. Though no public services will be observed, those who knew Gene will forever carry his laughter, kindness, and spirit in their hearts. Arrangements are entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home.
