George William
Robinson Jr.
October 14, 1949 – April 20, 2026
George William Robinson, Jr., affectionately known as “Bro,” was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. Bro passed away on April 20, 2026, at the age of 76, showing remarkable courage and quiet strength throughout his illness, surrounded by the family who loved him.
Born on October 14, 1949, to George William Robinson, Sr. and Thelma Lyles Robinson, Bro’s life was one of continual growth, marked by academic achievements and meaningful career milestones.
Bro was a proud graduate of East High School and the University of Findlay, demonstrating a deep commitment to education. Known for his intellect, he enjoyed engaging in lively conversations and thoughtful debates. Though modest about his own accomplishments, he consistently encouraged those around him to pursue knowledge and personal growth. He worked diligently at Youngstown Sheet & Tube Company and later joined the Brentwood Originals manufacturing team, dedicating himself fully to his work.
Growing up in the Kimmel Brook neighborhood, Bro formed lasting friendships that he cherished throughout his life. With his jewelry, signature hats, and Stacy Adams shoes, Bro always carried himself with confidence and style, often believing he was the sharpest of his crew.
Well known for his quick wit and playful humor, Bro delighted in giving friends and family unique nicknames and found joy in gentle teasing. He was an enthusiastic sports fan who loved boxing, football, and track, and he proudly supported local teams, contributing to community pride.
Bro enjoyed spending time with family, sharing laughter with friends, and finding peace while tending to his flowers and garden. Music was also a source of joy, especially Motown classics, with songs by Smokey Robinson among his all-time favorites.
Family and friends fondly recall him as the slowest driver in Youngstown, a memory that continues to bring smiles to those who knew him.
Above all, Bro was a faithful Christian who was blessed with a long life. Through life’s challenges, God sustained him, and his journey stands as a testament to determination and resilience.
Those left to honor Bro’s memory include his dear daughter, Tamara Gregory and her children, Taleyla, Gregory, Tyla, Tyra, Brian, Rachel, and Armani; his stepson, Reginald Revere; and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren he lovingly raised, George, Michael, Alexis, Randy, George Jr., and Randy Jr.
He is also survived by his devoted sisters, Carolyn Jones, whose steadfast prayers uplifted him, and DeLoise McElroy, whose caring presence brought comfort and strength throughout his illness; his brother, Ronald Robinson, who stood by him with unwavering support; along with a loving extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and countless friends whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Susan Riley Robinson; and the children they raised together, Roxanne Cash and James Revere.
In keeping with Bro’s wishes, there will be no formal memorial services observed. Family and friends are welcome to extend their condolences to his loved ones as they celebrate a life well lived.
The family sincerely appreciates all expressions of kindness and support during this time of remembrance. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, proudly serving families in Youngstown and Steubenville, Ohio. For additional information, please call (330) 743-4098.
