Geraldine Wise, 76, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away on February 27, 2026. She was born on December 6, 1949, in Burlington, North Carolina, to the late James Henry McGhee and Maggie L. McGhee.

Geraldine made her home in Steubenville, where she was well known for her vibrant personality, strong spirit, and deep love for her family. She was a proud graduate of Steubenville High School, affectionately known as Big Red. Geraldine spent much of her life as a devoted homemaker, caring for her home and family with pride.

She loved getting together with family during the holidays and cherished the time spent surrounded by those she loved. Geraldine also had a deep love for music and enjoyed listening to it often. She was known for her sense of style and loved to dress up, even if it was just to check the mail. Geraldine was never shy and was very outspoken, often bringing laughter and honesty wherever she went.

One of the many things her family will always remember is her humor and the sayings she shared. One quote in particular, “Nobody move, nobody get hurt,” became a favorite that her children and grandchildren now say themselves. Geraldine believed strongly in encouraging those around her and instilled greatness, confidence, and strength in her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry McGhee and Maggie L. McGhee; Bennie L. Poteat; James Cliton; Rose Ann Swearingen; Robert McGhee; Diane McGhee; Anna Margaret McGhee; one grandson, Deonte; and one great grandson, Tykim Jr.

Geraldine leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Freddie (Tara), Daniel (Cristin), Keyonta (Keisha), Jayjuan, Marlon, and her beloved daughter Nikki “Nikki Boo” (Mark). She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce McGhee and Cathy McGhee.

She leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, Halo, who made the family’s beautiful five generation legacy possible. Geraldine also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home Chapel, 255 South 7th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. The viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Reverend Maurice Lawson will officiate.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, proudly serving families in Steubenville and Youngstown, Ohio.
