Obituary

Gertrude Sayles 71 of Steubenville, Ohio died on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 in Columbus Ohio. She was born on July 6, 1944 to Johnnie Mae and William James Council.

Gertrude was a graduate of Steubenville High School. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend to all. She was the owner and operator of Guys and Dolls Beauty Salon, and she taught at The School of Cosmetology in Steubenville Ohio.

She was a lifelong member at Emmanuel Church of God In Christ. When she was able she was a very active in her church. She was an active member in both the Mass Choir and the Emmanuel Senior Choirs, she served as the Anniversary Chairperson, a Church Hospitality Member, an usher, and she sang with the Emmanuel-Ettes. She truly loved singing for the Lord.

She was also the foster mother of Fernando Morgan. Whatever she was asked to do; she was always a willing worker. She was a very good cook.

She was preceded in death by her two loving parents, a sister Eula Pearl and her brothers; William, Jr. and Elder, Willie Governor Council.

Gertrude will be missed greatly and is survived by her only son; William "BJ" Sayles, her sister Eula Mae Jeter, a niece; Marcy Patterson, a nephew; Sean Patterson, grandchildren; Lauren Sayles, Mariah Sayles, Nicholas Sayles, great nieces and nephews Aaron Gilbert, Bianca Gilbert, Isaac Patterson and John Kendricks, a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
