Hattie Mosely, 98, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2024. Born on January 13, 1926, in South Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late George and Marie Jeter.
Hattie graduated from Dunbar High School and soon after married the love of her life, Lee Mosley. They shared many cherished years together until his passing in 2009. She had a dedicated career, working for Jack and Jill Cleaners and later retiring from Granada Jewelers and Trophy.
Her service to the community was remarkable, notably her 25-year tenure on the Board of Directors at the Dunbar Center, recognized in 2005. A devout Christian, Hattie was a full member of St. Peter's A.M.E. Church in Weirton, WV, since February 15, 1942. She tirelessly prepared meals for various church events, sang in the choir, and contributed to the Men's & Women's Day committee.
Hattie's kindness, compassion, and willingness to help others were evident to all who knew her. A talented seamstress and avid baker, she enjoyed her time at the Millsop Community Center and was a devoted fan of her daily stories and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Preceding her in death were her parents, George and Marie Jeter; sister, Bertha West; cousin, Fannie Gilliam; husband, Lee Mosley; and sons, Lee Mosley Jr. and Randall Mosley.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Darryl Mosley; daughter, Lisa Austin; grandsons, Zubrundie Mosley and Darryl Mosley Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at St. Peter's A.M.E. Church at 1050 County Road in Weirton, West Virginia. The viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at noon. The interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
