Hazel Annette Carney was born in Steubenville, Ohio on January 28, 1940 to the union of Lovelace and Corrie (Whitaker) Greenlee.

Hazel was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the various choirs. Later, she joined Greater Zion Church and enjoyed that fellowship.

Hazel was educated by the Steubenville City School System. She met and married Leon Stinson and to their union five children, Leon L., Leonette, Dorisa, Rhonda and John were born.

Hazel had so many nicknames because her heart was so grandiose that people adopted her into their circles: Mommie, Ma Hazel, Aunt Dumpy, Dumpy, Sissy and Ms. Stinson just to name a few. She had a smile that could light up a room, a personality that drew you into her, and was a great dancer.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Edward Fullwood and William Carney; four siblings, Lovelace, Jr. and John Greenlee, Virginia Williams and Ida Wade and a grandson Jonathan.

On July 25, 2016, she was surrounded by her family as she quietly went to be with Lord. She is survived by her five devoted children, Leon L. Stinson, Leonette (Keith) Murray, Dorisa Stinson, Rhonda (Andre) Creech and John Stinson and their father, Leon Stinson; step-children, Yolanda Lar and Nicole Sims; her sisters, Vivian Sims and Wilma Magee, a host of grand, great and great great grandchildren, her dear cousin, Delores Wiggins, a beloved friend, Linda Allen; a special daughter, Paula Stromeyer, many other relatives and friends.
