Dorsey
Helen L. Dorsey was born on November 29, 1923 in Perry, Florida to the late Hattie Davis Hayes and Dave Hayes. On Saturday, May 30, 2015 she was called to her heavenly reward.
Helen was educated in the Steubenville School system and was a devoted homemaker, volunteer and a women of God.
She was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and married Orlando "Lank" Dorsey at the age of 15. During her active years at Mt. Zion she served in many capacities which included but were not limited to Sunday School teacher, Junior Choir, Heavenly Gospel Chorus and Vacation Bible School director, Zion Circle Mission and Usher Board #2 president, and Junior Church, Project Sharing and Church Picnic organizer.
Over the years she was also involved in many community and civic organizations: Church Women United, Council of Christian Churches, Salvation Army, YWCA, American Red Cross, Jobs and Family Services, Women's Health Services, NAACP, United Way, Ethics Board of Trinity Hospital and Buttons and Bows.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her husband "Lank", her 3 children, Patricia Abraham, Robert "Bob" Dorsey and Frances Dorsey-Powell.
She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren Harland(Lisa) Abraham and Myca Abraham, great-grandchildren Brandon and Jordan Abraham, her devoted niece and great niece Cydnie and Camielle Howard and countless other relatives, friends and community.
