Obituary

Ieem N. Douglas transitioned to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 16, 2023., at the age of 42. She was the daughter of Thomas J. Douglas and Elaine Owens.

She was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church early in life and always looked forward to attending Vacation Bible School in the summer. She attended Steubenville "Big Red" High School. While attending high school, she held many memberships in the YTeens, Pep Club, SADD, French Club, and the Choir. After completing her high school education, she enrolled at Eastern Gateway Community College where she studied accounting.

She loved to work until she became disabled. She started her first job at the tender age of 16 working as a clerical worker for the summer youth program through the Jefferson County Training Partnership Act. She later worked telemarketing for Reese Brothers then she started working in the restaurant industry as a greeter and hostess for Eat N Park, Texas Roadhouse, and Lone Star. She also worked for Subway and Wendy's restaurants. In her spare time, Ieem enjoyed shopping, reading, writing, hanging out with friends, and watching scary movies. She also loved drafting/design and planned on designing her own home.

She was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents Thomas and Evelyn McGhee; maternal grandparents Floyd Sr. and Alice Owens; and paternal grandmother Kathleen Douglas.

Ieem was a loving daughter, mother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend to many. She is survived by her parents Thomas J. Douglas and Elaine Owens; daughter Kaziah Marshall; brother David Owens; aunts Shirley King, Octavis McGhee, Thomasine Stinson, Brends McGhee, Donice Parrish, Darlene Turner, and Yvonne Owens; uncle Floyd Owens Jr., and Tony McGhee; a niece De'Anna Owens; and one nephew Ayden Douglas; special cousins Yolonda Mahoney, SaShay Owens, Jasmine Owens, Carrington Mahoney, and Addison Owens; and a host of other relatives and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service, 11:00 am, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. The Rev. Maurice Lawson will deliver words of comfort. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery in Steubenville. Please convey condolences to the family through Ieem's online guestbook.
