Iris Callahan, 67, of Steubenville, Ohio passed away on Dec. 1, 2019, at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She was born in Steubenville, Ohio on October 11, 1952, to Harold Brown and Rose Marie Huff. She was reared by her parents, Rose and Bill Gory.
She was a graduate of Wintersville High School and went to Howard University, which is ranked the second-best HBCU (Historically Black College and University) in America. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Iris was a valued realtor with Cedar One Realty. Iris loved her church family and was a loyal member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Iris was a kind person and genuinely happy every time you saw her. She was a fashionista and was rarely caught without a pair of the latest her high heeled shoes on her feet. She was a social butterfly and extremely outgoing in her community. In her leisure time, she enjoyed a good game of bid whist.
She was preceded in death by her father Harold Brown, her stepfather, who raised her, Bill Gory; a brother, Eric Gory; and grandparents, Charles and Flora Huff.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Rose Gory; a brother, Fred (Debbie) Gory; a granddaughter whom she adored as if she were her own child, Carletta Callahan; and one great-grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Funeral Sat., Dec 7th at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 221 N. 7th St., visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and the funeral will follow at 1:00 PM.
