It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we, the Prieto family, announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, father, and brother, Jamar “Mar” Prieto Sr., on September 24, 2026.

Jamar was born on May 3, 1980, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Donna Copeland and Franklin E. Prieto Sr. He attended East High School. He enjoyed working on cars, riding his motorcycle, riding go-karts, and spending time with his family. He also loved dogs and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Donna Copeland; his sisters, Shirley Prieto Jackson (Dale Sr.), Tosha Prieto Mason (Andre), Della Prieto Ortiz (Juan), and Tina Prieto Davis (Kevin); and his brothers, Franklin Prieto Jr., Leopoldo Prieto (Shamara), Daryl Copeland, and Jerome Prieto, all of Youngstown, Ohio.

He also leaves his beloved children, Jy’Mara, Jy’Karma, Jy’Hydia, Sha’Vehya, Jamar Jr., Jamarion, Nicole Rose, JaMaria, Jamarion Sharpe, and Jred, all of Youngstown, Ohio; Janquka Prieto of Warren, Ohio; and Jackson Prieto of Columbus, Ohio. His memory will also be cherished by three special friends, Tracey McQueen, Jayy Sanders, and Shaquille McElroy, along with a host of other family members and friends.

Waiting to welcome him home are his father, Franklin E. Prieto Sr.; his two aunts, Lesha Copeland and Pauline Copeland; his niece, Sade Shaw; his nephew, Franklin Prieto III; and his sister-in-law, Carolyn Stanley-Prieto.

The Prietos are an Army!

A funeral celebration of Jamar’s life will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Gregory-Martin Funeral Home, Youngstown Chapel, 292 Madison Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio 44507. Family and friends may gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

The repass meal will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Kiss of Klass, 207 Steel Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44509.
