Mr. James Willis "Nub" "Jimmy" Pruitt, son of the late Whalen and Anne Johnson Pruitt was a graduate of Steubenville High School. He served in the United States Army. At an early age he confessed his faith in Jesus Christ and attended church at Second Baptist Church where he was a dedicated member.

James never married but was blessed with five children. Mr. Pruitt was an active member of his church in Hampton, Virginia, as a result of his spirit and personality he was loved by many. His christian life was beautiful and his influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He departed this life on Saturday July 23, 2016 at a hospital in Hampton, Virginia. He was proceeded in death in death by a sister, Billie Wilson and two brothers, William Pruitt and David Brown.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children; Ebony Lawson, Dyeisha Dudley, JC Dudley, and Romona Farr; fourteen grandchildren; four brothers, Robert (Chungay) Warren, Albert (Tamara) Pruitt, Delbert and James Austin, three sisters, Barbara J. Pruitt, Donna J. Terry, and Cynthia E. Johnson; aunts and uncles, devoted family members and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
