Obituary
Mr. Jan "Timmy" Thornton was born November 22, 1946, in Steubenville, Ohio, to the union of William and Helen (Kenny) Thornton. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 18, 2022, in the comfort of his home.
Jan retired from Steubenville Catholic Central High School where he worked for several years as a custodian. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings William, Robert, Jack, Marie, Patricia, and Michael Thornton; one son Jan Thornton Jr.; nieces Gynneane, Myki, and Tammy; and one nephew Da'Ron Thornton.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Karen Thornton; children Pamela Mallory, Michael Swank, and Jan Michael Thornton; several grand and great-grandchildren; two sisters Barbara Nelson and Jenny Smoot; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 24, 2022, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service, 11:00 am at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. The Reverend Maurice Lawson will deliver words of comfort. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Steubenville.
