JaShawn Lemar Scott, age 17, was called home on October 14, 2019, at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was the son of KeShaunta and Justin Scott. JaShawn was born on September 18, 2002.

JaShawn competed in various sports, but he loved football with the Mifflin Sharks and was a member of the Columbus 101 (AAU) basketball team. He was a Junior at Gahanna Lincoln High School where he was a valued member of the Varsity football team.

JaShawn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his best buds Kobie, Khaleb, and Shamarion! He had a love for "ratchet" music and shopping.

He will be remembered by his smile, outgoing personality, being authentic and straight forward, as well as being the center of attention. And don't forget, he always had his hairbrush nearby!

He was a Counselor in Training at Fruitful Trees Learning Center for the past two years. He always had a love for children and enjoyed his time working there.

JaShawn was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Bobby Bell.

JaShawn is survived by his parents, KeShaunta and Justin; siblings, Constance, Jalen, and Avoni; maternal grandparents, Lynn Bell and Keith (Sandy) Gregory; paternal grandmother, Jacqueline "Renee" Sharpe; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

JaShawn was richly blessed with bonus families in Jerome, Tyler, and Jordyn Bryant; his mentors, David, and Shanise Kimbrough; Godparents, Pastor and Donna Jackson;  and a Godbrother Bryan Hairston II.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019, 10 a.m. until the time of service 12 noon at New Birth Christian Ministries, 3475 Refugee Rd, Columbus, OH 43232. Bishop Kenneth E. Moore, Sr. will officiate.
