Jessica Laverne Kimbrough-Moody, age 71, of Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on June 3, 2026. She was born on February 2, 1955, to Charles and Vivian Kimbrough and was lovingly reared by Mollie and Charles Dokes.

Jessica was a proud graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and furthered her education at Penn-Ohio College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree. She believed in the value of education and carried that commitment to growth and learning throughout her life.

A gifted artist and singer, Jessica found joy in drawing and music. Beyond her personal talents, she was deeply devoted to serving her community. She was known for her generous spirit and dedication to helping others through community giveaways, donations, and acts of kindness that touched many lives. Her willingness to lend a hand and support those in need left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

In 1978, Jessica met the love of her life, Henry Moody. Together they built a life filled with love, companionship, and cherished memories. Their bond remained strong throughout the years, serving as an example of enduring love to family and friends. Together the couple moved to Detroit in 1986, where Jessica was ordained as a minister and she began doing the Lords work.

Jessica’s greatest pride was her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Shalondra Russell, Kelly Russell IV, and Aleeya Moody; her beloved grandchildren, Siobhan Russell, Delton Coleman, Brionna Russell, Kelly Russell V, Darrius Russell, Kira Grimes, and Kailen Puckett; her great-granddaughter, Kari McBride; her sister, Cheryl Betts; her uncle, Chauncey Dothard; her bonus son, Jamar Phillips; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Moody; her parents, Charles and Vivian Kimbrough; her caregivers and guardians, Mollie and Charles Dokes; and her siblings, Eleanor McCoy, Charlayne Kimbrough, and Douglas Kimbrough.

Jessica will be remembered for her loving heart, creative spirit, unwavering dedication to her community, and the deep love she shared with her family. Her legacy of compassion, service, and strength will continue to live on in the lives of all who were blessed to know her.

A homegoing celebration will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday June 11, 2026 at Christian Life Center 6101 S. Raccoon Rd. Canfield, OH 44406 , a visitation with the family will be 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Center.
