IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jocelyn Elizabeth
Jones
August 5, 1956 – September 22, 2021
Jocelyn Elizabeth Jones was born August 5, 1956, in Newport News, Virginia, to the union of Calvin and Mary Williams. On September 22, 2021, Jocelyn passed away at Trinity West Medical Center at the age of 65.
Jocelyn was the first African-American female police officer for the city of Weirton, West Virginia. After her tenure in law enforcement, she decided to venture another avenue working several years as a Nurses Aid at the Carriage Inn in Steubenville where she did her best to care for others.
Her tender and nurturing spirit led many to refer to her as "Mama J."She was known to always recognize the positive side of things. She would always have a sarcastic, cleansing remark that could transform an undesirable situation into good while using humor to console those around her. She was genuinely a kind soul and would provide her last to anyone in need.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond Jones Sr. and Mary Williams; her stepfather who helped to raise her, Calvin Wiliams; siblings, Raymond Jones Jr., and Doris Lethcoe; and her companion for many years, Mr. Bruce Shackleford.
She leaves behind to cherish and honor her legacy, a daughter, Clarissa (Ronald) Jones Wilbourne; son, Calvin Michael Jones; her granddaughter, Dominique Jocelyn Jones; nieces Angelic Lethcoe and Glenette Elias; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service 5:00 P.M. at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL AND LIFE EVENT CENTER, 255 S. 7TH Street in Steubenville, Ohio.
