Johnny was born March 2, 1947 in Albany, Georgia to the late John and Hytha Cornelius (nee Richardson) Edwards.

Johnny attended Steubenville High School. He was a very kind person and truly cared deeply for his family, especially his beloved mother, Connie.

Johnny met his soul mate, Martha Beasley over 30 years ago. She was very faithful and attentive to Johnny's needs. She was a constant companion and friend.

Johnny will be missed and always remembered by his companion Martha Beasley; six children;  fifteen grandchildren, his sisters, Frankie (Freddie) Allen, Josephine (Ralph) Washington, Jewel (Kenny Martin) Mayo, and Christine (Conney) Watkins; an aunt Geneva Bell; two special cousin, Eugene Gillison and Evelyn Gilliam, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
