Johnson Young, 68, of Steubenville, Ohio, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville. He was born October 21, 1952, in Weirton, West Virginia, to the union of James and Gertrude (Wilson) Young.

Johnson was a member of Mount Carmel Community Baptist Church in Steubenville. He was a graduate of Weir High School. After high school, Johnson enlisted into the United States Army where he proudly served his country honorably during the Vietnam Era. After receiving an honorable discharge, he was employed as a Railman for Cleveland-Cliffs, Inc. in Weirton, West Virginia.

He was an avid Las Vegas Raiders fan. He enjoyed attending Steubenville "Big Red" football games, traveling, and spending time with his beloved family. His family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Gertrude Young; four brothers, James, Roosevelt, Joseph, and Benjamin; and two sisters, Ruth, and Patricia "Patty Lou."

Left behind to continue Johnson's legacy is his cherished wife, Brenda Gilliam Young; his children, La Shanda Shackleford and Ale'sha Gilliam; his grandchildren; his brothers, Eugene, LeRoy, William, and Paul; and one sister, Henrietta Williams.
