Josephine Washington

Josephine Washington, 77, of Steubenville, Ohio, gained her heavenly wings on Monday, December 21, 2020, at Lancia Villa Vista Nursing Home. She was born January 1, 1943, in Albany, Georgia, to the union of John Lee Sr., and Hytha Cornelius (Richardson) Edwards.

Josephine was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Steubenville, Ohio. Josephine retired from the Catholic Diocese of Steubenville as a domestic engineer. She had a compassionate spirit in life and was always willing to support anyone. That same spirit steered her to work as a nurse's aide for several years caring for patients. Josephine was extremely energetic and independent. With her spunky attitude and tell it like it is demeanor, she had no issue with informing you if you were doing something wrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Del Rico Williams; and a brother, John Lee Edwards Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her beloved husband, Ralph Washington of Steubenville, Ohio; four children, Ronald III, LaTanya, Vanessa, and Jacqueline Williams; a step-son, Shannon White all of Steubenville, Ohio; siblings, Frankie (Freddie) Allen of Steubenville Ohio; Christine Lewis (Connie Watkins)of Cleveland, Ohio; and Jewell Mayo(Kenny Martin) of Steubenville, Ohio; one aunt, Geneva Bell of California; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

The family will celebrate Josephine's life on her birthday, January 1, 2021, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL AND LIFE EVENT CENTER, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Friends will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. Bishop Jermaine V. Moore Sr., will deliver the eulogy. Entombment will take place at Fort Steuben Burial Estates.
