Obituary

On Monday, February 20, 1961, Mr. Keith L. Lewis accepted his assignment from His Heavenly Father and arrived upon the earth in the loving arms of his mother, Angeline Gordon, and his father, the late, Alfonso Hood. Keith was the middle child of eleven children. God placed him right in between, Joyce Lewis-Crawford, Barbara (Eugene) Anteh, Philip (Joan) Jones, Raymond (Betty) Lewis, James Lewis Cammedore, Sherry (Kenny) Sims, Eloise-Jackie (Hastings) Coach, William– Bill (Sara) Coleman, Tina Lewis, and Toni Lewis. Growing up surrounded by the love of his parents and siblings gave him a great foundation and helped shape him into the man we all come to love.

As Keith continued to mature and grow in the knowledge of God, this relationship gave him the ability to love more freely and authentically. With the birth of his eldest daughter Kandis Sowell, Keith gained a greater appreciation of the abundant love of our Heavenly Father. That love grew even greater when his sons Raymond (Whitney—wife four grandsons, Raymond Jr, RayVaughn, Rayshawn, Jaquan, Ray'mere) Martin and Regis (Ryan –wife and —grandchildren, Raejeanae and Rhianna, and Rejus) Martin arrived.

Keith had a great fondness for sports, he enjoyed basketball, bowling, tennis, and pool. Keith enjoyed everyday life, and over the years he enjoyed professional positions as a radio tech, accountant, and youth director and found a home with the Jefferson Metropolitan Housing Authority as a maintenance technician. This fit Keith perfectly, because he really enjoyed working with his hands.

Keith also enjoyed traveling. In the early 2000's Keith's love for travel and professional pursuits created a pathway for his feet to touch down in Steubenville, Ohio. When Keith locked eyes with Earnestina Mitchell, he decided that those eyes were the ones he wanted to look into for the remainder of his days. Keith and Tina were married on February 14, 2003. God blessed their 19-year union with three bright and beautiful children, Kamille, Keith II, and Kaylie.

Keith was a loving and committed husband and a wonderful father who truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Keith was also a community friend and active Elder at the Tower of Power church, creating unique opportunities for him to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 2019, Keith wrote and released a book, Ten Seconds to Repentance. In the book the main character, Mathew "The Punisher" Maxwell, a fighter, was chosen and sent into the boxing world by God to tear down and destroy the demon of pride. This was another example of his willing and obedient heart that he had to our Heavenly Father. He stepped out of his comfort zone. Ten Seconds to Repentance can be purchased now on Amazon. Wow, what an accomplishment!

Keith was dynamic, kind, loving, caring, generous, fun, talented, and hard-working because of the love he experienced from the Heavenly Father. He had the rare ability to love without restraint; just like Jesus Christ, and exactly what he was assigned to do. On Sunday, March 27, 2022, Keith heard the Lord say, "Well done, good and faithful servant; Keith, because you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of the Lord."
