Obituary

Kesim D. Boyd, affectionately known as Shawn, entered this world on June 16, 1975, in Moulton, Alabama, to loving parents Benjamin Ervin and Annie Faye (McGhee) Boyd. Unexpectedly, he departed from this life on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Steubenville, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.

Shawn was a man of quiet strength and deep sincerity. He dedicated his professional life to serving as a custodian for ISS Facility Services, where his steadfast dedication and strong work ethic were admired by colleagues and appreciated by all who knew him. Beyond his work, Shawn found solace and camaraderie in playing cards with friends at Leonardo's Coffee House, where he enjoyed engaging in thoughtful conversations and sharing stories.

A true sports enthusiast, Shawn's allegiance lay firmly with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, his passion for their victories only matched by his fervent support. Wrestling matches were a source of entertainment and excitement for him, and he never missed a chance to catch the latest bout.

However, above all, Shawn's heart belonged to his family. His love for his granddaughter, Braelyn, knew no bounds, and her presence brought immeasurable joy and light into his life. He was a pillar of support and a source of unwavering love for his children, Daysha, Kesim II, and Cameron, guiding them with wisdom and compassion.

In addition to his parents, Shawn was also preceded in death by his grandmother Modeam McGhee, one brother Timothy Gholston, and one uncle, Charles McGhee.

In the embrace of family, Shawn found his greatest strength. He was a devoted partner of 27 years to his significant other, Pamela Eakle, and a cherished brother to Bryant (Kelly) McGhee, Andre McGhee, Tyson Boyd, and Gwenda Boyd (Brandon Doughty). His nieces and nephews, Zachary, Xavier, Destiny, Selwyn, Dayjour, Essense, Alyssia, Tyria, Taybriah, Tylon, Travis, and Isaiah, held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in watching them grow and flourish.

Shawn's unexpected departure has left a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. While his physical presence may be absent, his spirit lives on in the memories he created and the love he shared. As we gather to honor his life, let us celebrate the legacy of warmth, kindness, and laughter that he leaves behind.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, located at 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. While Shawn's earthly journey may have ended, his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew him.
