Obituary

Kevin "K.K." J. Gilliam, 60, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019, in Weirton, West Virginia. He was born February 25, 1959, in Weirton, West Virginia, to the late Thelma and Jessie Gilliam.

Kevin was baptized in St. Peters A.M.E. Church in Weirton where he served in the church's YPD Department and the Youth Choir.

He graduated from Weir High School where he ran track. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, USS Forrestal.

Kevin worked at Crown and Cork Seal (formerly Anchor Hocking – Blue Moon) for over 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Charlene Clausell; one brother, E. Michael Gilliam; a great-nephew, Colin Moody and most recently, his loving granddaughter, Sa'Raija Watson on June 22, 2019.

Kevin leaves behind a loving daughter, Mahogany Luke; a faithful son, Cameron Jones; three sisters, Jessica (Larry) Taylor, of Texas; Michele Gilliam, of Washington, D.C. and Barbara Gilliam, of California; his precious grandchildren, As'Spein Fordham, and Jai'Zein Luke; his nieces, Lindsay (Vone) Campbell and Lauren (Dan) Immesoete; nephews, Charles Moody, and Jason (Taylor) Clausell; grandnieces, Khloe, Brytlin, and Cassidy; one grandnephew, Kaleb; special friends, Monique Luke and Taniesha Jones; his uncles and aunts, Berry Peake, David and Mae Lane, Evelyn, Joyce, and O'Dell Curenton; a host of other relatives and friends.

His life will be honored along with the life of his granddaughter, Sa'Raija Dior Unique Watson, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at First Westminster Presbyterian Church, 235 N. 4th Street in Steubenville. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. until the time of service, 12 noon. Bishop Jermaine V. Moore Sr. will deliver the eulogy. The burials will follow at Union Cemetery.
