Lamont J. Whatley of Mingo Junction, Ohio was born on August 6, 1965, to the union of Paul and Marsha Saxton. He passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, in Steubenville at the age of 56.
Lamont was a Methodist by faith. He graduated from Steubenville "Big Red" High School. He enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. Lamont entered the United States Army and served his country honorably. He was a people person, and he never encountered a stranger. He enjoyed nature and loved taking fishing trips with his father.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Averylle Mitchell and one sister L'Tanya Whatley.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his parents Paul and Marsha Saxton; a wife Stephanie Whatley; children Bryan Whatley, Lamont J. Whatley Jr., James J. Whatley, Willie Whatley, Morgan Mitchell, Dillon Brown-Whatley, Brianna Brown, L'Tanya Whatley, Lamontea Whatley, and Divine Whatley; Step-sons, Joseph Elder and Ja'Tarius Birden; grandchildren Giovanni Whatley, Jeremiah Whatley, Miracle Whatley, Zeus Binegar, Jai'Zein Luke, Za'Nyla Mitchell, Ameri James; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022, from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service, 12 noon, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Reverend Robert Harris will officiate. Interment: The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
