LaRoyce Annette Swearingen was born on June 21, 1961, at Ohio Valley Hospital in Steubenville Ohio to the late LeRoy and Juanita Swearingen. She gained her wings on July 4, 2020, at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus Ohio.
LaRoyce attended Steubenville High School. After her high school career, LaRoyce worked many odd jobs until she started her career as a Press Operator at the New Look Dry Cleaners in Columbus, Ohio, and Swan Dry Cleaners in Steubenville, Ohio until she retired.
In her spear time, LaRoyce enjoyed singing, dancing, reading, writing, poetry, and hanging with friends and family. LaRoyce was talented. As a child in Brooklyn, New York, she took tap and ballet. When she was growing up in Steubenville, Ohio, she participated in the Youth Choir at Second Baptist Church, Steubenville High School freshman, and Acapella Choirs, she was also a member of the Junior Elks A.K.A. Kappa Gamma Rho.
LaRoyce was an active member of the Tower of Power Church. She loved the Lord, her children, and the rest of her family who she cherished. LaRoyce was an outgoing people person. She would give you the shirt off her back, a hot meal, and a place to stay.
One person LaRoyce looked up to and admired was Mrs. Thomasina Stinson whom she referred to as a second mother. They had a bond that meant a lot to LaRoyce. Also, LaRoyce remained and maintained a special friendship with Forinzo "Earth" Stinson for more than thirty years. LaRoyce also had close ties with her cousins Florence Profit, Larry "Boop" Smith, and both of their families.
She was proceeded in death by her parents LeRoy and Juanita (Profit) Swearingen; maternal grandmother, Esther (Clarke) (Profit) – Davis; maternal grandfather, William Profit; maternal step-grandfather, Herman Davis; her paternal grandmother, Ann J. Paris (Swearingen) Williams; paternal grandfather, Dave Swearingen; step-grandfather, Lewis Curtis Williams; aunts, Gloria Profit-Pullie, Jacqueline Swearingen-Smith, and Eleanor Profit; uncles, Sam Profit, William Profit, Lewis Swearingen, and Bob Pullie; and one sister, Robin Phipps.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Rayonna Swearingen, of North Carolina; and her son JoRay Swearingen, of Columbus, Ohio; three brothers, Orlando (Brenda) Swearingen, of Ozark, Missouri; Omar Swearingen, of Steubenville, Ohio; and Scott (Karen) Gazzard of Australia; three sisters, Yurey Swearingen, of Steubenville, Ohio; Renee Vaughn, of Cleveland, Ohio; and Yvette Nesbett, of New York, New York; aunts Willie Belle Yates, of Buffalo, New York; Mary (Nick) Barnes, and Mary Jane Brown, both of Steubenville, Ohio.
We are truly going to miss you forever; you are the wind beneath our wings and the song in our hearts as you sing and dance with mom and dad. You will be loved and never forgotten.

Calling hours will be from 2:00 P.M. until the time of service 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 14, 2020, at the GREGORY-MARTIN CHAPEL AND LIFE EVENT CENTER, 255 S. 7th Street in Steubenville, Ohio. Rev. Maurice Lawson will deliver the eulogy. The family is requesting that guests wear masks and all white in honor of LaRoyce's memory.
